Hoe gebruik ik de scanner

Om de scanner te gebruiken:

1 Pas de focus van de webcam aan tot zo'n 10 cm vanaf de webcam
2 Hou de barcode voor de webcam, zodat je de gehele barcode duidelijk in het voorbeeldscherm kunt zien

De huidige scanner werkt alleen met EAN13 en UPCA barcodes. Als de scanner de barcode dus niet kan scannen, controleer dan of er wel 12 tot 13 cijfers onder de barcode staan.

As Barcodepedia tries to provide as much information about any product we can we really need your help. User submitions are really great -- but sadly a rather slow -- way of accumulating data.

Therefore if you have a barcode database or know anyone who has one we would be allowed to import we are more then interested to hear from you.

SQL rewrite and upcdatabase.com

Thanks to a few of friends who are both a lot better at SQL then I am, barcodepedia is actually fast now. Instead of taking 10sec+ to generate the front-page we are down to around 0.2sec.

I also managed to get in contact with Rob from upcdatabase.com -- as so many of you has suggested. Rob is a super nice guy and has allowed us to use his data on barcodepedia.com, under our current licence. He as even gone so fare as to change his own licence to match ours.

Those of you who have written me emails about upcdatabase.com might notice here that we could just have taken the data as the GPL licence the data was under before was also quite open. upcdatabase and barcodepedia is however almost the same service so I wanted an OK from Rob before I just imported his data. In short I would rather see upcdatabase as a sister site then a competitor.

Finally the forum is up and running. The forum is for everyone who wants to be a part of barcodepedia. Currently we are seeking moderators and translators!
